Very quiet night and overcast. The moon shined through the clouds and provided light.

The moon!!

Saw the moon in Royal Oak last night...what a nice evening to lock the keys in the car!! It wasn't hard to find because the sky was so clear. Not many stars too much light pollution.

Worn out from a field hockey game earlier, I sleepily stare at the open road ahead of me while driving home around 10 o'clock. Stopped at a stop light, my hands hold the steering wheel ad my foot rests on the brake. Morrissey's captivating voice in "Girlfriend in a Coma" entertains my ears as I study the pitch black sky, the silver stars, and the crescent moon.

I was getting back on the bus from sports and I looked up and saw the beautiful waxing crescent moon in the sky! I watched it on the way back to school and later saw stars in the sky. I wish I could have taken a picture, it was really cool!

I finally saw the moon last night! It was right above downtown Birmingham around 8:27, maybe 8:26, while I was ordering a butterfinger flurry from Dairy-Matt!

Birmingham Sky

This is a great example of ambient light over a city. The sky darkens the further up you look. (Taken at 10 pm in booth park in Birmingham from the top of the play structure) ~Addie~

Moon sighting!

Waxing crescent

I finally saw the moon tonight. It was peeking out between the trees and it wasn't hard to find because of its brightness.

Tuesday, November 8

Around 7:30 I went outside and saw what looked like a crescent moon, but now at 11:00 it seems to of disappeared. It looks like there is more stars out tonight but they are dim.

Quiet Sky

It was quite a dark, calm night. I managed to see a few stars on one end of the horizon while looking up. The bright lights from this tree and a few other lights covered my view of the stars on the opposite end.

The moon above Great Lakes Crossing as I drove home from our volleyball game.

Moon

Not a very good picture of it but if you look closely you can see the crescent shape. A couple of planes flying above. A flickering lamp post.

Black Cat

I couldn't see the moon today behind many trees and the low horizon that it is sitting on. However, I did see a black cat walk across my front lawn. Halloween is getting close!

Moon from the sky!

slightly saw the moon when flying back from Texas!

Optimism!

What a difference a day makes! The blustery fall-like winds have blown in autumnal weather today. At 5:30 PM the temperature is 56 degrees - 76% humidity, no precipitation, and winds at 3 mph - and again, it feels much breezier to me than that. I am hopeful that night sky viewing today will be more pleasant than our first two days! Don't give up girls!
The clouds are blowing across the afternoon sky - with large, painterly white/greys visible. The sky seems to change by the minute - sun in, sun out...a postcard picture fall afternoon.
Looking forward to nighttime viewing and tomorrow's report from all my students and their first weekend of observation and journaling.
Remember to post!

Sunday Night Reflection

9 PM - a slight drizzle mists my face. The weather link reports the wind speed at 4 mph, but it feels much breezier. The humidity remains high at 89 percent, but I can feel the wind bring cooling temperatures - currently at 61 degrees.
It is a quiet, muffled night. I can hear the bamboo wind chimes hanging from my back porch eaves. The leaves in my back yard trees are rustling in the breeze. I can hear a few cars pass by on Crooks Road as their wheels hit the wet pavement. It is quiet enough to hear my kitchen clock ticking.
No moon or stars are visible under the overcast, heavy sky.
I hope all my students are outside tonight, looking up at the sky, and paying attention to the world around them.
